Welcome everyone to the white sand hills and black water rivers of South Georgia. I am part of a group of airplane traveling golfers who meet up seasonally for midweek golf.
Georgia golfers know about The Masters® tournament, but true masters of 13th Colony golf also know that the classic design of Little Ocmulgee’s Wallace Adams Golf Course offers a similar experience for less fuss than Augusta, and much more fun.
The 18-hole Wallace Adams Golf Course is lined with loblolly pines and open all year long. You may even see a red-cockaded woodpecker or a gopher tortoise, both native to the coastal plains region. Fragrant magnolia trees are mixed with water-loving willows. Golf here is affordable, peaceful, yet a bit challenging! We preferred using the cart for more shade and ease.
Along the way we enjoyed the lush Bermuda fairways and TifEagle Bermuda greens. Free from distractions, players can take on a fair course without hidden water hazards or secret sand traps. Wallace Adams Golf Course is likely to become one of your favorite Georgia golf courses.
Always make sure to visit the 19th hole – Mulligan’s Grille – when you return the golf cart. We started with a Catfish Basket of cornmeal dusted catfish nuggets paired with another shareable, the Blackened Shrimp BLT Wrap. Cheers!
